Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus Himself was not baptizing, but His disciples were), He left Judea and went away again into Galilee.
Gospel of John 4:1-3

Why was the One who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire not baptizing?

Jesus: "How are you doing this morning, Holy Spirit?"
"I am doing awesome, the love of the Father is just flowing freely from heaven, today."
"Yes, I know, I am enjoying it, too. This will be another good day to baptize more wonderful people and help them enter into our kingdom."
"Jesus, how about if join the disciples in baptizing the people, today?"
"Oh, how much I would love to do that. We have been waiting all the centuries to make our eternal dwelling with mankind and have such a wonderful and intimate union with our children. I cannot wait myself to see how our people will be living and what they will do when they realize they have us dwelling inside of them. But I think we will have to trust the timing of our Father on this one. You know how much He has thought about this plan and considered every part of it."
"How about if we baptize just four or five of them, today?"
Jesus replies (laughing): "Oh yes, that would definitely change history once and forever. The time is very near when we will be able to baptize as many as are willing to receive us with our presence and glory. I think I will keep thinking and meditating on this as I watch our disciples baptize the people."
"Yes, that is a great idea. And in case we meet any broken, wounded, bound, or sick people, today, you know what is on the Father's heart to do for them, right?"
"Oh yes, I know it. That is exactly what we will do today, Holy Spirit. Let's get going and have some fun! Father, will you join us?"
"Of course, I am. The disciples are already up and cannot wait to see what we will do, today. It was hard for me to contain my love for them, this morning, so I think I spilled it out on them quite a bit."
"You know they love it when you do that. Let us see how they are doing. Holy Spirit, it would not suprise me if you gave them some really good dreams, last night. Am I right?"
The Holy Spirit replies smiling, "You never know..."

A note from the author: "If I get to publish my own Bible version one day, I would probably put something like this in the footnotes." ;o) This is how far I got in my Bible reading time, today, before getting so drunk in the Holy Spirit that I do crazy things like this.
